Professor Lu Fang was born in Kunshan city, Jiangsu Province in 1932. He began to work in fine arts in 1949 and was admitted to the Printmaking Department of the East China Branch of the Central Academy of Fine Arts (now China Academy of Fine Arts) in 1955. He graduated in 1960 and taught at the school in the same year. In 1996, in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the cause of Chinese printmaking, The China Printmaking Artists Association awarded him the "Lu Xun Printmaking Award". Professor Lu Fang's printmaking works are collected by The National Art Museum of China, Zhejiang Provincial Museum, Shandong Provincial Museum, Shanghai Library, Baltimore Museum and Portland Art Museum, British Museum, National Plastic Art Museum in Paris, The Soviet Union National Museum, Kamakura Art Museum in Kanagawa, Japan, etc.
